This carbon-capturing, climate-positive top is like nothing you've seen before.
The limited edition top contains a photosynthetic, algal coating, which captures carbon and releases oxygen during the use phase! So you can wear your very own carbon sink.
Just as you would care for your houseplants, your top will also require some TLC to maintain its photosynthetic qualities. Below, you can see a few of the care instructions needed to look after your top:
- It is best to keep your top in a well-ventilated space with indirect sunlight
- Just like a houseplant, your top will require regular misting
- We advise hanging this top on a rail
- Do not put your top in the washing machine; instead, we recommend you patch wash it with a damp (soapy if necessary) cloth
We are delighted to collaborate with Post Carbon Lab on this exciting project.
Fabric made of 70% lyocell & 30% linen
Fabric produced in Portugal and ethically sewn in our atelier in Romania
Note: The coating may produce a greenish hue on the brick-red fabric (this is normal and indicates that the coating is successfully photosynthesising)
The design of this top is inspired by the myth of Apollo & Clytie. The story goes that a sea nymph Clytie loved the sun god Apollo beyond measure and, although Apollo returned her love for a time, his favour turned to another, princess Leucothea. In anguish, Clytie told the princess' protective father of their affair and in a fit of rage, the King buried his daughter alive. Furious with Clytie's betrayal, Apollo stripped her of life and turned her into a sunflower. But despite his actions, Clytie loved him all the same and would turn her flower face to gaze at the sun all day long.
